The Bird & the Tree
from GOLDIN
A Bird lights in a Summer’s Tree:
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
The Bird is You, the Tree is Me.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
The Bird sings in the golden Sun
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
And swiftly comes Another One.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
These two Birds make sweet Harmony
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
And build a Nest within the Tree.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
Two younger Birds these two Birds raise
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
They fill the Summer air with Praise
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
But soon the Wind blows from the North
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
The Birds must now go faring forth.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
The Wind blows chill, the four Birds fly
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
The Tree turns grey and cries “I die!”
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
There is a Tree without a Bird
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
In which the Whips of Wind are heard.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
The Sun comes back, the Bud breaks free.
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
A Bird returns into the Tree.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
But new Leaves now receive the Sun
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
“Am I the Same? Are You the One?”
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
“Who last year lit upon my Bough?
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
“Those Leaves are gone—who are You now?”
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
The Bird in answer sends the Song
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
Among the Leaves the whole Day long.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
A Songbird in a Summer’s Tree:
Ah, la la la, the blinding Sun.
The Tree is You, the Bird is Me.
Oh, the leaves in the Autumn fall.
