Louise

Lou learned to cut hair somewhere
back there in her girlhood, she
trained when she was sixteen, then she
met Andy, and she left hair.

Then Andy met Steve, after a whole life.
He left Lou, bang, and so she
cuts hair again. She used to be
docile, like somebody’s model wife

but now she spits and swears, wears tight
stretch-nylon pants and always has
a smoke stuck in her loose red mouth.
She stays up worrying at night.
