Trees at dusk, Plaston

The frangipani trees were lantern-bearers,
their bruiseless white petals
lit such bright scent against
deepening green bamboo light.

Insects, pitched in among grasses
of the night shrilled without ending.
The sky already blue starred ink...
the smell, the yellow-centered smell!
