Self-portraiter

Here's a man who
colours himself so carefully
in body clothes and mind

(these eyes always watching
with a chattering review).

The society of human voice
talks in those eyes,
till he can't keep anything apart.

Really, it's no simple exercise
but he does it all the time:
eyes look, repaint what's seen
and look again,
and paint and look.
