Strand Street

Strand Street’s not grand, it’s
a steep slope uphill past
the buildings in the city’s heart
to Signal Hill, from the Castle
and Parade.
                     Some banks
stand here. The Lutheran Church
perches on its erf as it has
for more than two centuries.

Tarred and carred, this road conducts
traffic to Sea Point,
up the steep slope, past
the structures of the city’s heart.
