The City Hall

The City Hall
is large and tall;
its stones are slick and cold.

Built by the British, made to last,
it has a rather Northern cast—
it sails these dark streets from the past,
makes fast in the winter cold.

The rain surrounds the City Hall—
there is no sentry in a stall
to guard it from the wild wet night:
Against the huge cloud and the moon
the piled up stones seem old and small.
