Rain is a 600 page interactive graphic novel, a detective story written in verse. Cape Town, South Africa. Winter of '86
The reader takes the part of Richard Graham, Private Detective investigating a very dodgy scam. The novel includes:
- 55+ minutes of studio-recorded sound; - about 600 graphics; - about 20 characters who are moved about through 24 hours of virtual time; - A simple push-button interface - about 100 hours of playtime - more if you're not that bright. - Random factors mean that you can never read the same novel twice.
The novel does not include animated graphics, a shootem-up scene or a bouncing eyeball - it is a literary text which can be accessed (read) through the conventions of gaming. The work is in progress and I expect to finally complete it during 2006. |
