Jack Matthews trained with the St John Thomsons of Kushido (then Karate Do)
and was awarded Shihan (master) status, a fact which he never revealed.
In 1986 he formed the Bushi-Do Karate Academy.
He died in 1993 at the age of 39.

In the last years of his life, Shihan Jack re-designed the Bushi-Do badge,
changing the samurai helmet into a dove.

Sensei Ricky Alexander (Rashida Ishmael)

After Jack's death, the chief instructor was sensei Rashida (Ricky) Alexander. When she withdrew from teaching due to family pressures, training was carried on by Mike Cope.

Sensei Mike Cope

Sensei Mike has been teaching for over 10 years.
Since becoming an instructor he has trained in Ryukyu Kobujitsu under Sensei Tony Mulligan.
In response to the need for increased safety while walking, he has added forms
for using a walking-stick in self-defense.
